5 Places To Spend Your Summer Vacation in 2021

This summer, millions of people are expected to take to the skies and seas after spending more than a year sheltering in their homes and doing all they could to flatten the curve. From nature adventures to seaside pools, your vacation options likely feel practically endless. You can narrow down your options by considering these five top destinations around the world.

1. Puerto Rico

Offering warm weather and a diverse landscape all year long, Puerto Rico is an excellent choice for those who want to adventure in the Caribbean. Go for an evening dip in the country’s bioluminescent bays, or spend the afternoon climbing some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

If you love to cruise, you can even combine adventures by embarking on a cruise to Puerto Rico. A variety of cruise lines visit historic San Juan. While docked, you can exit the ship to spend the day visiting historical sites, shopping on quaint city streets, or enjoying authentic Puerto Rican cuisine and music. Be sure to stop into Casa Blanca Museum. The historic home dates back to 1521 and now serves as a museum for the history of the mansion, San Juan, and all of Puerto Rico.

2. Canada

Perhaps you prefer your weather a little cooler. Canada’s 13 provinces and territories feature some of the most beautiful and most interesting tourist attractions in North America. The Northwest Territories are a perfect opportunity for adventurers who like to go off the beaten path. Visit them to seek out the Northern Lights, take in the serenity of mountains and waterfalls, and learn more about the country’s indigenous people.

If you prefer a vacation that isn’t quite as remote or physical, try Toronto, Vancouver, or even New Brunswick. Featuring a wide range of restaurants, some of the best shopping in the world, and a variety of cultures, these cities are perfect for those who love to relax, be pampered, and enjoy a night on the town.

3. Kenya

Are you not quite ready to integrate back into society? Who says you can’t vacation in wide-open spaces? Kenya is a gorgeous vacation destination for doing just that. Find solitude and adventure by spending five days climbing 17,000 feet to the top of Mount Kenya, or spend your days surfing, snorkeling, or simply soaking up the sun on the white sand beaches of Diani.

Lovers of the city can visit Nairobi to dine on Kenyan cuisines, check out boutiques, and mingle with the locals. The city also has a thriving nightlife scene full of bars, cocktail lounges, and clubs where you’ll meet locals and tourists alike.

4. France

The food. The wine. The history. With such a decadent atmosphere, it’s easy to see why France is one of the top vacation destinations in the world. Of course, you can visit Paris to take in the Eiffel Tower and check out other major tourist attractions, but don’t be afraid to visit lesser-known areas as well.

Lovers of good food and wine won’t want to miss the Bordeaux Wine Festival, held in June each year. Dozens of the country’s best restaurants and wineries feed the festival’s attendees every year. Events include mystery tastings, tours of heritage sailboats, workshops, and raffles to win meals or tickets to other local attractions.

5. Slovenia

Most people don’t imagine Slovenia when they think of summer vacation destinations, which is exactly why it’s such an excellent choice. The often-overlooked country is well-known for its role in sustainable tourism, making it an optimal choice for the environmentally conscious.

If you’re a foodie, you’ll love that Slovenia was named the European Region of Gastronomy for 2021 and has six Michelin-star restaurants. Between meals, you can check out gorgeous scenery in the country’s excellent weather. Do you prefer a little bit of glamour during your vacations? Glamping Resort Blagus and Pikol Lake Village offer the best of both worlds via fairytale camping trips among some of Slovenia’s most beautiful scenery.

Whether you sail the Caribbean to Puerto Rico or cross the Atlantic to Slovenia, check on current guidelines. Some places still require masks or social distancing. You’ll want to be sure you have everything you need and choose a destination and attractions that best meet your comfort levels as you re-enter the world of vacationing.
