5 Acts of Sadqah Jaariyah

The word Sadaqah is an Arabic word, which describes a “voluntary charity”. It is a righteous deed in Islam. It means helping others through money and based on what activities we do with others, whether through kindness, love, sympathy, or faith. A simple action, such as a smile, or a helping hand, is seen as an act of charity (Sadaqah) in Islam. Caring and kindhearted for one’s fellow human beings is an essential part of Islam. The beautiful part of Sadaqah is an act of kindness without any expectation of in return. Being Muslims, we believe that Sadaqah Jariyah is an everlasting act of service to others that continue to give after you have gone. Being Muslim, we believe that nothing rewards we will be getting after death, but sadaqah jaariyah is the only kind of act that tips we will get continuously after death.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“When a person dies, all their deeds end except only three : a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them,” (Hadith, Muslim).

A continuing charity often includes funding the construction of a water well or water plant, planting resourceful trees such as fruits and the shadow of trees, constructing a masjid (mosque) or medical center that all are few small examples of sadaqah jaariyah.

Surely the men who give sadaqah and the women who give sadaqah and have advanced a good loan to Allah SWT; for them it will be multiplied and for them there is a noble reward.” The Holy Quran (57:18)

There are many different types of sadaqah Kariya that you can do, and we have described five-act of sadaqah jariah. Hopefully, you will be motivated by these articles and participate in continuing charity for today’s people and the future, InshaAllah!

1. Supporting an Orphan

Caring for orphans is a major part of Islam. From the Quran, we can imagine how the orphan’s rights are important. Their rights are stated 22 times in the Quran. Mistreatment of Orphans is a serious sin that people do not care about. Your good behavior with them is valuable good deed.  After you died, you will continue to gain a reward for your kindness. Whenever they do good deeds such as plant tress, you will be rewarded. The reason is that you helped an orphan’s life and fulfill their requirements. So you will gain the reward for their actions and the reward is endless.

2. Awareness of Islam

It is our responsibility to share the correct knowledge of Islam and to invite others into the faith; it is highly rewarded in Islam. Suppose you give just one accurate understanding of Islam to another human being, and that person follows your guidance and shares your knowledge with another new person. In that case, you are gaining reward every step of the way. Teach recitation of the Holy Quran to someone, and as every time that person recites the Holy Quran, it will be the continuous reward (Sadiqah jarriah) for you even after you die.

3. Hygienic Water.

Many people around us have no access to clean, safe drinking water. Around 842,000 people die from diarrhea each year. You can build water wells to provide hygienic water and hand pumps to save lives, which is the most significant rewardable action. You can also put a water cooler outside of your house, especially in summer, is the best act of kindness. This small charity act is a life-changing activity for the people and sadaqah jariyah UK for you in here and hereafter life.

4. The building of a Mosque, School and Hospital:

Most Muslims contribute to the construction of a mosque to gain rewards. Like this, you can also build a school, hospital, or even an orphanage, which is very helpful for other human beings. In turn, you shall be rewarded whenever a person recited and pray in a mosque, any patient be treated at that hospital, and students who gain knowledge from that school. You will get countless rewards from this act of kindness. Inshallah!

5. Donating Religious Material

Similar to sharing knowledge, sharing religious material is also sadaqah jarriah, such as copies of the Holy Qur’an and Islamic books. You shall get sadaqah jariyah every time a person reads or learns from your donated material.

There are lots of other things that you can donate, such as tasbihs, prayer mats, hijabs, medical supplies, clothing, and so on. You, in turn, receive the benefits.

Conclusion

We spend a lot of money, time, and effort to achieve our personal goals and dreams. We should remember those our brothers and sisters who cannot afford their requirements and give lots of sadaqah jarriah to them. We have to provide just as much energy and focus into investing in our Hereafter as this is where the rewards are the greatest, not only for our today but for long after we have died.
