4 Uses for Bamboo You Might Not Have Considered

As we look to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations, consumers are looking towards more eco- friendly products. Single use plastics are being phased out in favour of more durable and biodegradable products, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill each year. Bamboo has placed itself as a durable, sustainable and reliable material that many companies are utilising to develop sustainable products for the climate conscious consumers of today. So below we will take you through 4 uses for bamboo you might not have considered.

Bamboo Sheets

An increasing number of consumers are making the switch to bamboo bedding which has been embraced for premium comfort without costing the planet. Some companies are developing 100% organic bamboo products which are great for their customers skin and are sustainably sourced. Other companies are producing blended materials made with chemical processes so when choosing products like these make sure you are aware of the origin and manufacturing processes used to make them.

Bamboo Pet Collars

The best thing about using bamboo for pet collars is that it is a great alternative to traditional leather collars but it has properties such as being odour resistant and antibacterial so your pet will love them too. Bamboo pet collars will perform just as well as traditional collars and have the added benefit of being biodegradable.

Bamboo Straws

With an alarming amount of single use plastic straws contributing to landfill every year many companies and governments are working on alternative solutions that still provide the same functionality. Although paper and metal straws have been considered, bamboo is proving to show great promise in its use as a straw. Bamboo can be shaped into straws which can provide the same utility as the plastic predecessors whilst maintaining structural integrity when wet, a problem that has been identified with paper-based straws. The bamboo straws are also biodegradable, environmentally friendly and cheap to manufacture.

Bamboo Bottles

Bamboo might not seem like an obvious choice for creating a water bottle but it has provided a great alternative to the millions of plastic water bottles which are contributing to landfill every year. Bamboo is extremely durable so it will not break when dropped and will help keep plastic water bottles out of landfill and oceans.
