As of 2020, there were 582 million entrepreneurs in the world and almost 775,000 alone in the US. So if you want to strike out on your own and start new businesses, it can be quite a feat.

For one, it doesn’t just take business smarts. It also takes a sort of gumption as well.

Wondering if you have what it takes to start your own business? Here are 4 qualities of an entrepreneur you should know about.

1. Discipline

When you work for yourself, there’s no one cracking the whip but you. If you aren’t able to constantly hold yourself accountable, then you’re doomed to fail.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the most successful entrepreneurs have lots of drive and discipline.

Along these lines, they’re also very tenacious. If they aren’t able to push through what seems like failures, then they aren’t able to get to the most rewarding part where their business finally succeeds.

2. Confidence

For most people, they can get buy working in a company where they don’t exactly believe in the products or company. But when you’re an entrepreneur, confidence in your business will take you far.

For example, if you’re a business broker and you’re not able to sell your skills, then you won’t be able to sell a business at all. So one of the most important qualities you need to have is confidence.

3. Creativity

When people set out to be their own bosses, it’s most often because they feel stifled at work. They want to stretch their creative legs, so to speak, which makes them great entrepreneurs.

As you’ve seen from the above statistic, there’s a whole sea of people who have traded in their 9-to-5 for entrepreneurship. To stand out from the crowd, you’ll have to think outside the box and be creative.

4. Flexibility

What makes entrepreneurship so risky yet rewarding is how many potential roads there are that your business can take. So one of the main qualities of an entrepreneur is the ability to be flexible.

You might plan for your company to take one road, but things won’t always go your way. So you have to be flexible and quick to adapt to ensure that your precious business doesn’t go under. This means listening to others and considering their input instead of going solo.
