Millennials and the older part of Generation Z are currently living through unpredictable times due to the emergence of COVID-19. While most labor has been disrupted, this younger generation continues to work to keep everything running and make ends meet. However, people looking for new work during this time may have different expectations from potential employers than before and are looking for specific qualities for the current working environment.

1. Technology Focus

A greater amount of people is working from home than before due to the pandemic. Specifically, nearly two-thirds of US workers have now changed to remote work to continue their careers while also protecting their own health. These employees can perform their duties with the help of recent technological advances like instant messaging, video conferencing tools and more. Millennials are more familiar with the newest technology, so they will appreciate an employer who embraces it to make work more efficient and pleasant.

2. Workplace Flexibility

The emergence of the coronavirus has surprised most people, especially its impact in the workforce. It is crucial for organizations to adapt to these new circumstances. Still, the younger workforce appreciates the effort and consideration, even if it sometimes needs some improvement.

3. Work/Personal Life Balance

This unpredictable situation has taken an emotional toll on people everywhere, especially millennials who lack economic stability and try to find or maintain employment. They might be rattled by a job loss or its likelihood. The possibility of the disease striking them or their loved ones can also affect them emotionally and impact the quality of work. Millennials will show loyalty to employers that treat them with empathy and understand the importance of emotional and mental health.

The millennial workforce has different priorities after COVID-19 and its impact on the world. They will gravitate to companies and employers that adapt to these elements to create a healthy work environment.
