Blogging is growing exponentially.
From travelling to tech gadgets, there’s a blog for every topic you could ever dream of. If you have an idea, there must be hundreds of people who are eager to read it. And after a global pandemic, more people will turn to blogging. Undoubtedly, competition will sky rocket.
So the biggest question is: how to reach more people with your blog?
Unfortunately, there is no shortcut to success. You need to publish good content regularly.
At the age of information overburst, for every question out, there are more than seven people with a unique answer. Your article needs to stand out in the crowd to catch the eyes of readers.
Getting traffic requires a lot of work. Several sleepless nights. And hundreds cups of coffee. But most importantly, it requires lots of content. In this blog post, I will share my 3 main ways to get more traffic.
1. Figure out your niche
Get out of the delusion that every type of blog receives traffic equally. Learn from my mistakes.
I personally tried a blog on the education niche and failed. It struggled to receive 500 visitors per day even after having more than 50 blog posts. This made me give up after 2 years of struggle.
So, if you choose a topic which is very broad, then you have to struggle a lot. Which was my case.
However, a blog in a very specific niche again could be difficult. Not because of its difficulty but because it is too specific. There might not be enough audience to flood your website.
So when I started my second blog letterjunction.com on better writing practices, I was very cautious about this fact.
Initially, I diversified the topic in several directions. After it started getting some traffic I am constantly directing this blog towards my goal.
This strategy helped me to gauge the behavior and interests of my audience.
So, my advice will be to re-evaluating your niche. If it is not worthy of your work, change it and proceed.
2. More Post is More Traffic
Did you ever track the posts of a social influencer?
From my experience, I found that they post very regularly irrespective of their followers.
Initially they might struggle to receive appreciation but with time it increases exponentially.
The same is true for any blog.
The more you post, the more you receive traffic.
Posting regularly reveals your authority on the topic. Moreover, it improves your writing style too.
Did you notice in my example, I mentioned that I have only posted 50 articles in a span of 2 years.
This is too small for an academic blog. So, I have changed my strategy and now post at least an article every week.
My suggestion to all new bloggers will be to post at least 2 articles per week.
Believe me, it will help you receive more traffic than ever.
3. Blogger Outreach
I already discussed about website authority. Do you know one major way to build authority is to spread the
word?
In the blogging community it is known as blogger outreach.
There must be several blogs in your field. Network with them.Pitch your idea and reserve a guest post.
Getting backlinks from a guest post from other blogs in your field is the best way to build trust among the audience. Moreover, it will pass some traffic to your website.
Conclusion
Managing a successful blog is not easy. It requires effort and patience.
However, it becomes easier once you get into the loop. There might be some lucky fellows who succeeded overnight in their first try but for most like me, the story is more or less the same.
Take your time and figure out the best plan. Try and fail. Practice
and fine tune it.
I am sure, success will kiss your feet.
