3 Tips For Giving Gifts To Your Employees

While the holiday season has just recently gotten over, there are plenty of situations where you as an employer may be looking to give a gift to the employees that work for you. But while you might be feeling magnanimous, knowing what type of gift to give your employees isn’t always easy.

To help you figure all of this out, here are three tips for giving gifts to your employees.

Spend The Same On Each Employee

In general, it’s best to give gifts to all of your employees at the same time, especially if they’re meant to be gifts related to work or their job. In the event that you’re giving a gift for a more personal reason—like a wedding, new baby, birthday, or other occasion—giving gifts to everyone doesn’t really make sense.

When you are giving gifts to all of your employees at the same time or for the same reason, Chron Small Business advises that you spend the same amount of money on each gift for each employee. Unless the person you’re giving the gift to is especially close to you, like a personal assistant, or has another occasion to celebrate, it’s best to have the same cash value for each gift you give as the employer.

Opt For Something Personal

Even if you’re getting a gift for each person in your organization, getting them something personal can be very meaningful to them and show them just how much you care for and appreciate them.

As you look for a personal gift, Matt Krumrie, a contributor to ZipRecruiter.com, recommends that you get similar gifts for everyone that you’re able to then personalize. This could include something like a gift card to their favorite store or restaurant, a photo on a mug or blanket of their team from work, or something else meaningful. By going this route, you can show that you know and care about your employees without having to get an entirely new gift for each person, likely saving you time and money.

Give Something Useful

Because you’re going to have all types of people working for you with all types of interests, you may want to simply give gifts that are going to be useful for everyone.

According to Katie Navarra, a contributor to SHRM.org, you may want to give everyone a gift centered around wellness or health. You could also give a gift that makes their own gift-giving easier around certain holidays, like wrapping paper. Doing something that will make their lives easier outside of work can be a great gift for anyone.

If you want to give gifts to your employees but aren’t sure where to start or how to go about it, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you with this.
