1. A cosy night in
When you are that busy, you sometimes can’t even think about organising a date night. That’s when you can stay in for a night. Turn your date night into a pamper night. As soon as you get home from work, change into comfy clothes such as sweatpants for men (Dutch: sweatpants heren) or women with a long sleeve t-shirt. Order some take-out. watch your favourite Netflix show or play a board game. To enhance a spa/pamper date night, prepare some face masks and run a bath for the evening. Make the most out of your pampering and chill evening with your partner.
2. Out of your comfort zone
When couples have been together forever, a date night might turn out to be quite the same every single time. Because when you first get together, you tend to plan a lot of exciting and out of the box dates. Now, you’re at the stage where you are ‘comfortable’ with each other, maybe a little bit too comfortable. That’s why it’s time to step out of your comfort zone and spend and do something that neither of you have done before. Even if it doesn’t work out, you can always look back and laugh about it. Whatever you want to do, that’s completely up to you. But for inspiration we have listed a couple things that we think are hilarious for a date night:
- Rollerskate disco
- Minigolfing
- Painting class
- Dance class (Salsa)
- Karaoke night
3. At home activity
We’ve heard that baking or cooking together is the ultimate way to strengthen your relationship. Even though you’d think baking and cooking has little to do with your relationship, a study has shown that it has. Dr. John Gray, a relationship expert, stated that couples who cook and bake together, are significantly more successful and satisfied in their relationship. Who would’ve thought that? Well, baking together helps you connect, bond and build your intimacy. So get baking for the night!
Another activity that you can do at home is to make a romantic movie theater. This is especially for the warm summer nights. Want to know how? It’s easy. Find yourself a white tablecloth or bedsheet. Hang this somewhere in your garden where there is a flat background (preferably stones or wood). If you have a canopy, that’s even better. The only thing left to do is to rent a beamer and watch a movie! When you don’t have a lounge outside, situate some mattresses topped with loads of pillows. Bring out the popcorn and let’s roll the movie.
4. Arrange a wine tasting (or beer, or whiskey)
What better way to spend some quality time than to drink wine with your partner. If you’re both wine enthusiasts, this is a fun way to spend the evening. Have one of you arrange the wine tasting and the other think about suitable dishes. There are many examples to find where you can easily pick a few wines or you can order a small tasting online. If you’re not really into wine but into beer, tequila, whiskey or other distillery, you can turn it into a tasting of any kind! However, we do suggest that you organise a tasting on a Friday or Saturday night. You don’t want to be hungover at work.
