10 Tricks to Write Your University Assignments Like a Pro

A transition from high school to college has one requirement that remains simply irreplaceable, and that’s the art of writing college assignments that have to have a precision, style and format for delivery.

4. Make Notes

Once the assignment’s key ideas have been mooted, start with the notes, other than replicating what is written in the book verbatim. This is bound to make your assignment work look weak.

Summarize what has been read and understood in your own words. In doing so; refrain from changing the meaning of the sentences.

At the end of your notes, give due credit to all the relevant places from where the references have been picked to compile the copy. Coming back to provide them with credit later, may take much more than the desired time in finding it.

5. Interpret the topic or assignment questions

The questions raised in the homework need to be interpreted as most of the time scholars lose marks not having understood the question asked to answer. Try solving the complex problems of your assignments in the following ways.

  • Understand the question, sincerely. Know what it is asking and identify the issues before you start writing.
  • In-depth issues would carry merits, demerits, cause and effect, strengths and weaknesses, compare and contrast all of which need to be dealt according to the questionnaire raised.
  • The questions raised need to be dealt with and evaluated critically.
  • All issues explained must carry examples and illustrations as is in the question.

The thesis defines the goal of the assignment. It is central to any discussion and should be written to captivate the reader’s interest. An excellent way to go about it is:

– Introduce the thesis that has to be written in the introduction of your research assignment.
– It gives an analytical tone to the assignment.
– All arguments should relate to the thesis in the discussion.

 7. Start with the introduction

While penning the introduction part of the assignment, a few points that need to be kept in mind are as follows. The introduction is the area where a reader is acquainted with the subject.

-to make the introduction concise, focus on the issue
-state the goal of the assignment
-avoid repeating the content
-leave enough space for the introduction
-introduction is revisited again and again while compiling a thesis
-arguments should be discussed further in the thesis or the body

 8. Discussion

Discussion is the body of the assignment in question. Here the work is for arguing the question by discussing the pros and cons, merits and demerits and all necessary points that make the discussion’s body. Arrange all points chronologically using:

-sound reasoning
-in paragraphs
-well interlinked
-should readily connect

 9. Write the conclusion

A conclusion is the derivative of the thesis that should ideally not cross one-tenth of the whole body of your assignment. Ideally, it should hold the following features to make it readable and attractive.

– a conclusion is ideally unambiguous discussed in the thesis
-it ideally  has the summary in short of the discussion
-nothing new is said in this section
-convey a final message here with an overall conclusion

10. Referencing

Referencing carries a lot of weight in university assignments. They play a significant role in the university, acknowledging sources from where the thesis compiled giving due credit by mentioning their names and works. A referencing should carry the following features, and they are:

-arrange references alphabetically at the end
-they are done in two ways:
*end-texting referencing
*in-texting referencing

In-text referencing: Is in the body of the assignments, the discussion, author names, date entries of the source and more. End-text referencing appears towards the end and follows style like:

Assignments finish based on the referencing style that has been asked in the assignments. And APA is the general format followed for all assignments when not prescribed.
