10 Pointers For Inter-urban Move

  1.  Have Savings And A Financial Plan

Either you have consciously decided to relocate across the state or the situation warrants it, you need to start saving up and have a financial plan. Moving across the country does not come cheap, either you DIY or engage the services of a long-distance moving company, it will cost you. So, have a financial plan for it.

2. Set A Date

The next step in planning your relocation move is to decide the date you want to make the move. Deciding the date of your trip enables you to be able to plan every other thing that you need to do around that date.

3. Organize Your Things

Once you conclude on the date of your relocation, access all the things in your house. Make a list of everything you have and decide which ones you are keeping, selling, donating or recycling. Doing this will also make you know if they are things you can move your things by yourself or you let the professionals handle it

4. Get Packing Materials

Among what should be on your list are boxes, bubble wraps, tapes, soft papers, etc. Reduce your spendings also by sourcing free boxes in your neighbourhood. Moreover, if you don’t get enough free boxes, you can buy cheap boxes. If it is possible, get the same size of cardboard boxes to enable stacking easily while arranging.

5. Secure A House Online In The New City

Technology has made things easier in this age, securing a house remotely is one of them. You can go online to scout for houses by checking out different listings and checking out the reviews of various ones you come across. Make your payments and get the proper documentation signed, so that you have a place to stay before leaving your current location.

6. Get A Job Ahead

In a situation where your move is not job-related, and you need a job, try to do that before leaving your current location. You can search online for job listings and apply. Interviews and other processes can be done online.

7. Purchase Temporary Supplies

Getting a collapsible mattress for instance will come in handy after packing and at your new place. Also, purchase disposable plates, spoons and forks that you can use both in your old house after you pack, and in the new place before setting up.

8. Disconnect Utilities In The Old House And Set Up Utilities In The New Place

Before you move out finally, be sure to disconnect all the utilities attached to your old house. Also, once you can secure a house in the new place, set up utilities. This is so that you don’t continue getting billed in the old house,      and the utilities in your new house are up and running before you pack in.

9. Decide The Mode Of Moving

Once you have looked at everything and properly weigh your options, decide how you want to transport your things. It’s either you rent a truck and move it yourself, or you employ a long-distance moving company. Also, if you are moving your cars to your new location yourself as opposed to using a car-moving agency, make sure the cars are well serviced and are in perfect shape for such a journey.

10. Prepare Your Family For The Move

If you have kids, it is always good to have a talk with them about the changes they are about to experience. They need to know there will be changes to their environment, schools and friends. Talking with them will not only prepares them for the trip itself but the new life ahead also.

Also, if your spouse has a business running in your current area, you need to discuss plans for the business. You need to decide if it’s a business that you can employ someone and keep running or something you can move to your new location.

Finishing Up

Your move doesn’t have to be stressful and overtly costly, just follow these pointers, and organize your long-haul move with ease.
